Where do World Cup Climbers Clip From? – Finals Route

Aleksandra Dagunts and I built these clipping heat maps to see if we can learn anything from the clipping hold of World Cup climbers on a Finals route.

  • No climber clips below the first two climbers
  • Only Anak Verhoeven clips below a climber who had a higher rank.
  • Is it possible that the better climbers clip from lower down?  Or is it route specific?  Or is this just a bad signal of a possible correlation?”

What about a Semi-Finals route with more climbers?

The idea that better climbers clip lower does not appear to be born out. Do you see another pattern?
